Building on a Solid Foundation
In a world where spirituality and self-help resources abound, it’s easy to get lost in the noise. As Christians, we’re constantly seeking guidance and wisdom to navigate life’s challenges. But amidst the sea of voices and opinions, it’s crucial to remember that true wisdom comes from one source alone: the Word of God.
A Timeless Truth
Jesus teaches us that a wise person is one who not only hears His words but also puts them into practice (Matthew 7:24-25). This timeless truth has been echoed throughout history, from the Jewish rabbis of the first century to modern-day Christian leaders. Yet, despite the abundance of resources, we often find ourselves torn between conflicting interpretations and divisive theology.
The Uncompromising Truth
The Bible reminds us that God’s Word is the ultimate authority, an infallible guide that stands above human opinion and commentary. As Jesus, the Living Word, He assures us that His understanding of God’s Word is reliable and true. James and John reinforce this message, urging us to prioritize God’s Word as our primary counsel and authority.
Discerning Truth in a Distracting World
Today, Christian books, podcasts, and online resources are essential tools for discipleship. However, in the midst of this abundance, we must learn to discern truth by measuring everything against the only infallible words of wisdom – the Words of the Living Word. The written Word and the Living Word testify to eternal wisdom, truth, and life.
Keeping Our Eyes on Jesus
In a world where theological debates and distractions abound, we need to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus and prioritize His Word. When the storms of life come – and they inevitably will – we must be anchored in the Rock of God’s Word, lest we fall.
A Call to Action
Take a moment to reflect on your relationship with God’s Word. Ask yourself: Is God’s Word my primary authority? If your answer is yes, consider how you can better honor and reflect His Word in your daily life. Write down the steps you feel God is asking you to take to prioritize His Word more. Then, set a time to get started.
May we be empowered by the Holy Spirit to faithfully and obediently be doers of the Word, and may our lives be a testament to the eternal wisdom, truth, and life found in Jesus, the Living Word.
