Embracing the Ministry of Comfort
As we journey with God, we’re called to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, spreading love, hope, and comfort to those around us. In Luke 4:18-19, Jesus declares his mission to preach the gospel to the poor, heal the brokenhearted, and set the oppressed free. This passage, rooted in Isaiah 61:1-3, forms the foundation of Jesus’ ministry on earth.
A Crown of Beauty Instead of Ashes
Jesus’ words bring comfort to those who mourn, providing a crown of beauty instead of ashes, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. He binds up our broken hearts, comforts our grief, and brings good news to us. Even in the darkest of times, God’s Word promises that dark clouds are under His feet (Psalm 18:9), reminding us of His faithfulness and goodness.
God’s Unwavering Presence
In times of struggle, God never stops inviting us near Him, offering love, guidance, deliverance, healing, and comfort. He hears our prayers and our tears, counting them as precious liquid intercession (Psalm 56:8a). As our Mighty Warrior, He contends with forces that contend with us (Isaiah 42:13; Psalm 35:1), fighting on our behalf.
Rest in His Covenant of Love
Be blessed with a still heart, knowing God fights for you (Exodus 14:14; Psalm 46:10). His covenant of love can never be taken from you (Romans 8:35,38-39; Psalm 18:19), and everything is for His glory (2 Corinthians 4:15). God’s promise is sure: He is able to guard what you have entrusted to Him (2 Timothy 1:12).
Covered in His Presence and Peace
Receive His covering of sweet presence and peace that passes all understanding in all your cares. He never loses sight of whom He designed you uniquely to be, and whom He designed those you love to be. His plans for you are written on the palm of the nail-pierced hands of His Son.
Knowing God as Father and Comforter
Be blessed to know Him as your Father of compassion and God of all comfort, who comforts you in all your cares (2 Corinthians 1:3-4). As you rest in His love, may you be filled with His peace and presence, shining as a beacon of hope to those around you.
