Unlocking the Transformative Power of Persistent Prayer

The Power of Persistent Prayer

In the midst of life’s chaos, prayer can be our guiding force. As Corrie ten Boom so eloquently put it, “Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?” For my husband Bill, prayer was an integral part of his daily life. He believed that every aspect of our lives, no matter how big or small, should be brought before God.

A Crisis Averted

One fateful morning, Bill was awakened at 2 am with a sense of urgency. One of our staff members was facing a personal crisis, and God had impressed upon Bill to pray for him. Not only did Bill pray for his friend, but he also sought God’s wisdom on how to respond to his needs. The next day, Bill had a crucial meeting with this same individual, and God had prepared him for it.

Praying About Everything

Bill’s approach to prayer was all-encompassing. He believed that every decision, every action, and every word should bring glory to God. Even something as mundane as choosing what clothes to wear was a matter for prayer. As he would say, “The more frequently you share your thoughts and desires with your Lord, the closer you come to Him.”

The Priority of Prayer

E.M. Bounds once said, “Talking to men for God is a great thing, but talking to God for men is greater still.” In a world where we’re often tempted to focus on our own strength and abilities, prayer reminds us of our dependence on God. By making prayer our steering wheel, we acknowledge that God is in control and that He desires to guide us in every aspect of our lives.

A Call to Prayer

So, friend, let us heed the words of 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT), “Keep on praying.” May our prayers be a constant conversation with God, seeking His wisdom and guidance in every situation. As we prioritize prayer, may we draw closer to our Lord and experience the transformative power of His presence in our lives.
