When Crisis Hits, Remember the Power of Prayer
As the pandemic began to unfold, I’m sure many of us experienced a range of emotions – fear, anxiety, courage, and strength. For me, it wasn’t until I heard the heartbreaking stories of Italians struggling to cope with the outbreak, with many patients dying alone, that I felt compelled to take action. The thought of being alone in one’s final moments was unbearable.
A Call to Serve
My initial instinct was to volunteer, to do something tangible to help. But, as a friend wisely pointed out, there was another way to make a difference – through prayer. So often, when crisis strikes, we rush into action, wanting to do something, anything, to help. But as Christians, our first response should be to turn to God in prayer.
The Forgotten Power of Prayer
We tend to underestimate the impact of prayer, forgetting that it has the power to change everything. Our God is capable of moving mountains through our prayers, making them just as vital as any physical action we can take. Prayer is not just a last resort; it’s a powerful tool that can bring hope and comfort to those on the frontlines, including those who may be lost and without eternal hope.
A Prayer of Service
Will you join me in praying for those affected by the pandemic? Let us remember that prayer is a vital form of service to God. Here’s a prayer to get us started:
Dear Lord, help me recognize the importance of prayer as service to you. Let my prayers be acceptable to you. Amen.
Remembering the True Source of Strength
In times of crisis, it’s easy to rely on our own strength and abilities. But as Christians, we know that our true source of strength comes from God. Let us not forget to turn to Him in prayer, trusting in His power to bring comfort, hope, and healing to those in need.
