The All-Seeing Eye of God
As I sat beside a woman on a recent journey, I couldn’t help but notice her fascination with her electronic tablet. She was checking in on her business, hundreds of miles away, using cameras to monitor her employees’ activities. It was an impressive display of modern technology, but it also reminded me of a far more comprehensive and ancient surveillance system – the watchful eye of God.
God’s Omniscience
The concept of God’s all-knowing nature can be daunting. The Bible tells us that God is omniscient, aware of every thought, action, and intention. He sees the good we do, which brings Him pleasure, and the bad, which displeases Him. God desires for us to make right choices, such as speaking truthfully, showing kindness, and obeying authority. When we follow His path, He is pleased.
The Consequences of Sin
However, each of us has fallen short, committing wrongs that displease God. Our sins require punishment, but in love, God sent Jesus to take the punishment for those who turn from their sin and put their trust in Him. As Proverbs 15:3 reminds us, “The eyes of the LORD are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good.” He knows and sees all.
Freedom of Choice
God has given us the gift of free will, and it grieves Him when we sin against Him. He yearns for us to do what is right and, above all, to accept His Son, Jesus, so that we may have eternal life with Him.
The Futility of Deception
It’s futile to try to deceive God or hide from Him, for He knows everything and sees into the depths of our hearts. As my pastor once said, “Aren’t you glad others don’t know what Jesus knows about you?” It’s essential to remember that Jesus loves us and desires to spend time with us. He wants us to turn to Him, ask for forgiveness, and seek His help to overcome our shortcomings.
Redemption Through Jesus
We’ve all done things we’re ashamed of, but Jesus offers us redemption. He died on the cross, paying the price for our sins, so that we might have eternal life with Him. Let us not forget that Jesus loves us and wants to guide us on the path of righteousness.
