Healing Division: A Call to Unity and Wholeness

Unity in the Face of Division

As I sat with a couple on the brink of collapse, I realized that their struggles were not unique. The tension was palpable, and it was clear that they were pulling in opposite directions. Our conversation lasted late into the night, but it was a timely reminder of a fundamental truth.

A House Divided Cannot Stand

Jesus once said, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand” (Matthew 12:25). These words are a stark warning, one that we would do well to heed. Take a moment to reflect on your own life: are there areas where division is threatening to tear you apart? Is there a relationship, a community, or even a workplace that’s being pulled in different directions?

The Call to Unity

As believers, we’re called to respond differently to the world around us. We’re not meant to be contributors to division, but rather agents of unity. Yet, pride and fear often hold us back from taking the first step towards reconciliation. It’s time to stop being sandpaper, rubbing against each other, and start being oil, smoothing out the rough edges.

Seeking Wisdom and Humility

Today, ask God to help you navigate the situations that threaten to divide and destroy. Invite Him to guide you with wisdom and humility, to lead by example, and to work towards unity. Pray for creative solutions to unresolved issues, and trust that His desire for you is wholeness and unity.

A Prayer for Unity

Father God, thank you for warning us about the dangers of division. Today, remind me that my household won’t stand if we’re divided against one another. Help me to be part of the solution, not just part of the problem. Give me Your wisdom, humility, and resourcefulness to help us pull in the same direction. Let me model Your way to the world around me. I trust You today to help me work towards unity where I walk. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
