A Heartfelt Commitment to God
As we reflect on the joy of thanksgiving, a beautiful song comes to mind – “I Will Enter His Gates” by Leona Von Brethorst. The lyrics resonate deeply, filling our hearts with gratitude and praise: “I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart, I will enter His courts with praise! I will say this is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice for He has made me glad.”
A Young Heart’s Desire
Recently, an eleven-year-old boy attended a summer day camp, where he made a profound commitment to God. In his own words, he shared: “Last week at camp, I gave my life to Jesus again. This time, it was different. I wanted it to be my own decision, not something my family tells me to do. I want to love others and God.” He acknowledged his past mistakes, particularly towards his sisters, and expressed a desire to change and stay connected with God throughout his life. His heartfelt commitment is a powerful reminder of the importance of personal faith and dedication.
Washing Away Sin
The boy’s words echo the symbolism of Pontius Pilate washing his hands of Jesus’ case, but with a twist. Instead of distancing himself from responsibility, the boy wants to wash away his sins and follow Christ. This courageous decision is a testament to the transformative power of faith.
A Grandparent’s Joy
As grandparents, we are overjoyed to hear of our grandson’s commitment to God. It fills our hearts with thanksgiving and praise, reminding us of the importance of nurturing faith in the next generation.
A Prayer of Thanksgiving
As we celebrate this young boy’s decision, we offer a prayer of thanksgiving: “Lord, we shout to you with joy. We worship you, our Lord, with gladness; and come before you with joyful songs. We know that you, Lord, are God. It is you who made us, and we are yours; we are your people, the sheep of your pasture. We enter your gates with thanksgiving and your courts with praise; giving thanks to you and your name. For you, our Lord, are good, and your love endures forever; your faithfulness continues through all generations. Amen.” (Psalm 100:1-5)
