A Miraculous Turn of Events
I still vividly recall the profound conversations I had with a dear friend who was battling cancer. During one of our heartfelt talks, he surrendered his life to Christ. The medical prognosis was bleak – the doctors predicted he would never regain mobility and would likely spend his remaining months confined to a hospital bed.
The Power of Prayer
As we fervently prayed together, something remarkable happened. His cancer went into remission, and he began to praise God for the incredible miracles unfolding in his body. Not only did he regain his ability to walk, but he even returned home and got behind the wheel of his car once again.
A Cautionary Tale
However, as time passed, my friend’s perspective shifted. He started attributing his recovery to his own efforts, downplaying the role of divine intervention. We remained close friends, and just before his passing three years later, when the cancer returned, he humbly sought God’s forgiveness for his arrogance.
A Timely Reminder
This experience serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of humility and recognizing the true source of our strength. As the apostle Paul so eloquently wrote, “Our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant – not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.” (2 Corinthians 3:4-6)
A Prayer for You
May you find confidence in Christ, acknowledging that your abilities are not self-derived, but rather a gift from God. May your heart remain humble, recognizing the Spirit’s transformative power in your life. Amen.
