Unwavering Faith: A Lesson in Trust
When life’s challenges seem insurmountable, it’s easy to feel like we’re barely holding on. I’ve been there, and I’m sure you have too. During one particularly dark period, well-meaning friends would remind me to cling to God’s promises, and I would nod in agreement, trying to muster up the strength to do so. But the truth is, sometimes I felt like I was grasping at thin air, wondering how much longer I could keep going.
A Valuable Lesson from a Patient
It was during this time that I met a remarkable individual who taught me a profound lesson. Mr. Isaac, a blind patient at a Care Home, was in the final stages of throat cancer. Despite his struggles, he radiated a sense of peace and joy that I couldn’t ignore. As I sat beside him, holding his frail hand, he asked me to read from his Bible. The words I read brought a smile to his face, and he whispered, “Yes! Yes! Jesus is holding me.”
The Power of God’s Grip
As I reflected on Mr. Isaac’s words, I realized that my approach had been misguided. I had been focusing on how hard I needed to hold onto God, rather than trusting in His unwavering grip on me. It’s not about our ability to cling to Him, but about His promise to never let us go. In that moment, I whispered a prayer of surrender, asking God to forgive my lack of trust and promising to rely more fully on His faithfulness.
A Promise of Faithfulness
And He did see me through that difficult time. Looking back, I’m grateful for the opportunity to learn more about God’s amazing faithfulness. He is reliable, trustworthy, and ever true to His promises. When we’re too weak to hold on, He keeps holding on to us.
Inviting Jesus into Your Life
Do you want to experience this kind of faithfulness for yourself? You can start today by committing your life to Jesus. It begins with a simple, heartfelt prayer, acknowledging your need for Him and inviting Him to take control of your life.
Take the First Step
If you’re ready to take that step, here’s a prayer to get you started:
“Lord, thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I want to know You personally. I open the door of my life to You and ask You to come in as my Savior and Lord. Take control of my life. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen.”
