A Season of Trust
As I sat in the chapel at Loma Linda Hospital, my heart was heavy with concern. My beloved wife, Vonette, was undergoing major surgery, and I had been waiting anxiously for four hours. The journey that led us to this moment began three weeks prior, when Vonette visited our doctor for a routine physical examination. The diagnosis was unsettling – a large growth that could be malignant.
A Time of Waiting
Though the doctor urged immediate action, Vonette insisted on waiting until I returned from my tour of Latin American countries. I was in Rio de Janeiro when she called to share the news. Naturally, I wanted to rush back to her side, but she reassured me that she would be fine and encouraged me to complete my mission. We prayed together over the phone, praising God for His faithfulness and thanking Him for this opportunity to trust Him, even in the face of uncertainty.
Faith in Action
As we praised and gave thanks, God’s supernatural peace flooded our hearts. We knew that God honors faith and obedience, and we were determined to walk in faith, even in the darkest of times. In the weeks that followed, we continued to praise and thank God, recognizing that we are His servants, and He is responsible for our welfare.
A Miraculous Outcome
After the surgery, the doctors delivered the news we had been praying for – the operation was a success, and there was no malignancy. We were overwhelmed with gratitude, knowing that God had been faithful to us once again.
Lessons Learned
So why did God allow us to go through this experience? It was a reminder of His faithfulness and a lesson in learning to love, trust, and obey Him. As we reflect on this journey, we are reminded that if we love God, all things really do work out together for our good, regardless of the circumstances.
Biblical Insight
As Romans 8:29-34 reminds us, God is working everything out for our good. Today, I choose to count all things as working together for my good, and I will thank God and praise Him in obedience to His command. Will you join me in trusting and obeying God, even when the road ahead seems uncertain?
