Transformed by the Glory of God
As we gaze upon the glory of the Lord, we are transformed into His likeness, from glory to glory (2 Corinthians 3:18). This profound truth has been echoed throughout history, from Isaiah’s life-changing encounter with God’s holiness (Isaiah 6:1-8) to Moses’ heartfelt prayers to know God’s ways and behold His glory (Exodus 33:11-19, 34:5-10).
A Heart Cry for God’s Glory
For years, I would seek God’s guidance, asking Him what I should pray for. The consistent response was, “Show me Your glory.” This echoes the cry of Moses, who yearned to know God intimately and behold His glory. But what does it take to experience such a profound connection with God?
The Price of Intimacy
Speaking intimately with God requires a willingness to surrender our hearts and let Him transform us. As we gaze upon the glory of God, we are convicted by His character and humbled by His presence. It is here that we must ask ourselves: What heart attitudes need to be transformed so that we can truly know God and behold His glory?
A Prayer for Transformation
As we seek to behold God’s glory, let us pray with the sincerity of David, “Renew my spirit” (Psalm 51:10-11). Let us ask God to transform us, to renew in us a right spirit of humility, steadfastness, willingness, and forgiveness. Let us pray for a servant’s heart, a spirit of repentance, and a heart that overflows with gratitude and joy.
Scriptural Guidance
As we seek to behold God’s glory, let us look to Scripture for guidance. Let us pray for a spirit of love, unity, and revival. Let us ask God to fill us with His Spirit, to give us a teachable heart, and to guide us into all truth. Let us pray for a whole-hearted spirit, a spirit of praise, and a heart that rests in God.
A New Beginning
As we present ourselves to God, empty and surrendered, let us thank Him for the new thing He is doing in our lives. Let us pray the prayers of Moses, “Let me know Your ways. Show me Your glory. Go among us. Renew my heart from Glory to Glory by Your Spirit.” May we be transformed by the glory of God, and may our lives be a reflection of His goodness and love.
