The Power of Submission
In a world where independence and self-reliance are highly valued, the concept of submission can be a difficult pill to swallow. We often strive to be our own bosses, making our own decisions and answering to no one. Yet, as followers of Jesus, we are called to a different way of living.
A Life of Surrender
Jesus, who had all power and authority, chose to submit His life to the authority of His Father. He consistently pointed back to the Father, demonstrating a heart of humility and obedience. And what was the result? The Father rewarded His obedience and exalted Him to a position of great honor.
The Key to True Authority
Jesus’ authority didn’t come from His own strength or abilities, but from His submission to the Father. He understood His worth and identity, but He chose to operate under the Father’s guidance. This is a powerful lesson for us today. When we submit our lives to God, we open ourselves up to His power and wisdom.
A Relationship of Trust
Submission is not about being a doormat or losing our sense of self. Rather, it’s about acknowledging that there is One greater than us, who loves us deeply and desires the best for us. When we surrender our lives to God, we enter into a relationship of trust, where we can rest in His love and guidance.
Reflecting on Our Lives
So, who do we point back to in our daily lives? Is it our own strength and abilities, or do we consistently acknowledge God’s sovereignty? What areas of our lives do we need to surrender to the Father today?
A Prayer of Surrender
Father, thank You for loving us beyond our selfish human hearts. Thank You that submission to You is a safe, beautiful, and powerful place. We submit our lives to You today, asking that we may live in such a way that we consistently point back to You. May Your will be done in our lives, and may we experience the joy and freedom that comes from surrendering to Your authority. In Jesus’ exalted Name, Amen.
