Faith Under Fire: Submitting to Authority as Christians

Submission to Authority: A Christian’s Dilemma

As believers, we’re often faced with the challenge of reconciling our faith with the demands of living under earthly governments. In Romans 13:1, we’re reminded that every authority has been established by God, and therefore, we must submit to them. But what does this mean for us, especially when we disagree with those in power?

The Blessing of Protection

Despite our differences with government policies, we must acknowledge the blessing of living under authorities that provide us with protection and freedoms. We enjoy a level of security that many others around the world can only dream of. However, it’s crucial that we don’t become complacent in our comfort.

The Forgotten Church

As we pray for our leaders and thank God for our liberties, let’s not forget the countless believers who face persecution daily. The Christian era has witnessed some of the most brutal suppression of faith in history. Our brothers and sisters in Christ are suffering, and it’s our responsibility to remember them in our prayers.

A Cry for Deliverance

As we reflect on God’s mighty acts of deliverance throughout history, let’s bring our petitions before Him. May we ask that He bless every persecuted believer, showing them tenderness, healing, and protection. May His power be manifest in their lives, just as it was in the Exodus.

Prayer

Oh Great Deliverer, God of the Exodus, we ask that you act today and bless every believer who suffers for your sake. Show them your loving care, heal their wounds, and protect them from harm. We pray this in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
