Living a Life That Honors God: Leaving a Lasting Legacy of Faithfulness

Leaving a Lasting Legacy

As I reflect on the words of Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” I am reminded of the importance of living a life that honors God.

A Child’s Innocence

One evening, my six-year-old granddaughter, Tia, came to me with a simple yet profound request. She wanted to draw my foot for a Sunday school project. As I obliged, she asked me what I wanted Jesus to say to me when I met Him face to face. Without hesitation, I replied, “I want Jesus to say, ‘Good job, Katherine!’” With the help of her mom, Tia carefully printed those words beside the drawing of my foot.

A Wall of Faithfulness

The following Sunday, I was amazed to see a whole wall in the church gymnasium covered with grandparents’ footprints, each one representing a life dedicated to serving the Lord. It was a powerful reminder that our faithfulness, no matter how small it may seem, can have a lasting impact.

Faithful Servants

During a trip to Southern California, my husband and I had the privilege of meeting long-time friends and co-workers who have been serving the Lord for many years. We celebrated with Warren and Diane Willis, who had been in ministry for over 30 years. Their faithfulness to God, to each other, and to their family has inspired countless people to give their lives to Jesus Christ.

The Question We Must Ask

As we journey through life, we must ask ourselves, “What do I want Jesus to say to me when I meet Him face to face?” Will it be “Well done, good and faithful servant”? Or will it be something else?

Leading by Example

As we leave our footprints on this earth, we must consider where we are leading those who are following us. Are we living a life that is faithful to God, or are we leading others astray? May we remain faithful to Him until death, and may those who come after us find us faithful.

A Prayer

Father, as we strive to live a life that honors You, we ask that You guide us and empower us to remain faithful. May our legacy be one of faithfulness, and may we hear Your words of approval when we meet You face to face. Amen.
