The Unseen Hand of Providence
A Glimpse into the Divine Plan
Have you ever stopped to consider the intricate web of circumstances that shape our lives? Sometimes, it takes a brush with death to appreciate the preciousness of life. I recall a personal experience that drove home this realization.
A Narrow Escape
As a teenager, I embarked on a camping trip to Colorado and Yellowstone National Park with five friends. However, our adventure took an unexpected turn when one of us fell severely ill, requiring medical attention. We were forced to spend the entire two weeks in Colorado, much to my initial disappointment. Little did I know that this detour would prove to be a lifesaver. Upon our return, we discovered that a massive earthquake had struck Yellowstone, reversing the flow of a river and destroying the very campground where we had reservations. Dozens of campers lost their lives that day. I couldn’t help but wonder what the future held for me and what I would have missed if I had been at Yellowstone.
The Unseen Protector
This experience left an indelible mark on my life, even though I wasn’t a practicing Christian at the time. It made me realize that sometimes God intervenes in ways we’re unaware of. My friend’s experience is another testament to this truth. He narrowly missed a flight from Chicago to Detroit, which later crashed into Lake Michigan, claiming all lives on board. His initial frustration turned to gratitude upon learning of the tragedy.
The Gift of Life
The truth is, every day we live is a gift from God, a manifestation of His mercy and grace. He saves our lives daily, allowing us to serve and praise Him tomorrow. Our days are numbered, and eternity awaits, but we can be certain that each day is an opportunity to live for His glory and mission.
Living with Purpose
So, how should we approach each new day? Live as if it were your last, and be thankful when you wake up tomorrow. Recognize that every breath is a gift, and make the most of it. In the words of Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”
