The Forgotten Banner
As we drive through our neighborhoods, it’s hard to miss the sudden explosion of colorful banners and flags proudly displayed on cars, homes, and even clothing. It’s that time of year again – college football season! Phrases like “Roll Tide” and “War Eagle” fill the air, accompanied by the nostalgic tunes of fight songs and the occasional chant. But have you ever stopped to think about what’s driving this fervor?
A Season of Allegiance
For many, the loyalty to their alma mater runs deep, even decades after graduation. But as we proudly fly our college flags, do we ever pause to consider what truly matters most? Is it the institution we attended forty years ago, or the faith community we’re a part of today?
A Higher Calling
In Exodus 17:15-18, we read about Moses building an altar and naming it “The LORD is my Banner.” He wanted to declare his allegiance to God and celebrate His goodness. What if we, as followers of Christ, showed the same enthusiasm for our faith? Imagine the impact if we flew Christian flags, displayed bumper stickers, and hung banners from our rooftops, proclaiming Jesus as Lord over all!
A Call to Action
Are you as passionate about your faith as you are about your favorite team? Are you willing to publicly declare your allegiance to Christ? It’s time to grab a trumpet, start a parade, and shout from the rooftops that Jesus is Lord! Let’s make a bold statement and fly the Christian banner high!
