Purifying Our Hearts: The Key to Unlocking God’s Glory
As we journey through the Bible, a recurring theme emerges: God’s call to His people to consecrate and purify themselves before revealing new aspects of His character or unfolding His glory. This pattern is evident throughout Scripture, where God commands His people to prepare their hearts for a fresh encounter with Him.
The Distractions of Life
We all aspire to love God with a pure heart, but we’re often sidetracked by the allurements of life. Unbeknownst to us, our affections can shift towards other things, leaving our relationship with God lukewarm. God, in His infinite love and wisdom, knows our weaknesses and encourages us to purify ourselves, knowing what’s best for us.
A Jealous God
The Bible reminds us that God is jealous for the spirit He has placed within us (James 4:1-5). He desires to partner with us in the amazing things He’s doing. This partnership begins with our own consecration. It’s easy to point fingers at others, but we must first examine our own hearts and pray for personal transformation.
A Call to Humility
Titus 2:13-14 reminds us of God’s desire to redeem us from wickedness and purify us for Himself. Are you willing to pray, “Jesus, thank You for redeeming me. Work in me Your redemption from all wickedness and purify me for Yourself, eager to do what is good”? This prayer marks the beginning of a journey towards holiness and humility.
Birthed in Prayer and Holiness
Movements of God are born out of prayer and holiness, as His people humble themselves to seek His face. The primary purpose is to seek God, to know Him, and align our lives with His character. We must seek God’s face with humility and repentance, recognizing that He is the only answer to the urgent needs of our personal lives, families, church, nation, and world.
A Personal Invitation
Ask God how you can seek Him. Allow His Spirit to guide you into a deeper relationship with Him. As you consecrate and purify yourself, you’ll be better equipped to partner with God in the amazing things He’s doing in your life and in the world around you.
