Defeating the Enemy: Tuning into God’s Voice for Guidance

Morning Reflections: Seeking God’s Guidance

As I begin each new day, I seek God’s direction, empowerment, and protection. I yearn to align my thoughts, words, and actions with His divine plan. However, I often find myself taking back control, trying to navigate life on my own terms. This subtle rebellion creates an opening for the enemy to infiltrate my life.

The Uninvited Guest

One night, I had a startling experience that drove this point home. After a phone call with Marvin, I drifted off to sleep, only to be jolted awake by the sensation of someone crawling into bed beside me. Initially, I thought it was Marvin, but then I remembered he was in Florida. Panic set in, and I silently cried out to God, “Who is it?” He revealed to me that it was the enemy. With boldness, I prayed aloud, “In the name of Jesus, I command you to leave our house.” The presence vanished, and I lay there, trembling, until I mustered the courage to turn on the light. The name of Jesus is indeed powerful!

Fiery Darts of the Enemy

While dramatic attacks like this are rare, the enemy’s subtle assaults are far more common. He often uses careless remarks or our own imagination to whisper lies, telling us we’re unappreciated or worthless. In mere minutes, our self-esteem can plummet. It’s crucial to remain vigilant, discerning whose voice we’re listening to – God’s or Satan’s. Our thought life operates on two frequencies: one attuned to God, the other to the enemy. We must choose which channel to tune into.

Tuning into God’s Voice

God has promised to direct our steps if we ask Him to. As we spend time with Him, He teaches us to recognize His voice. We must be intentional about listening to the Holy Spirit, rather than the enemy’s whispers. Father, thank You for Your faithfulness. Strengthen us and protect us from the enemy’s schemes. Help us stay alert and attentive to Your voice. Thank You for being the Almighty God. Amen.
