Embracing the Power of Hope
As I reflect on the past two years, I’m reminded of the significance of having a guiding principle to navigate life’s challenges. For me, that principle is Hope. It’s more than just a feeling or a wish; it’s a confident expectation rooted in the promises of eternity.
A Formula for Hope
I’ve developed a simple formula to help me grasp the essence of hope: H– Holding O– Onto P– Promised E– Eternity. This framework reminds me that true hope is founded on the unwavering promises of God, who has consistently demonstrated His faithfulness throughout history.
Clinging to Faithfulness
Last year, my focus was on gratitude, which proved to be a lifeline during the pandemic. This year, God has placed the word Hope on my heart, and I must admit, it brings me a sense of nervous excitement. However, I’m comforted by the knowledge that God keeps His promises, and I can rely on His faithfulness.
A Confidence Beyond Circumstances
The dictionary defines hope as “to expect with confidence.” When we hold onto the promises of eternity, it produces hope that transcends our current circumstances. Whatever 2021 brings, I’m reminded that this life is not all there is – an eternity of love, praise, and freedom from pain awaits me.
Unwavering Confidence
A recent social media post asked if it bothers us that 2020 seems to have gotten the better of us. My response? Not at all, because God wins every time. David’s words in Psalm 31:24 echo in my heart: “Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord.” This is my prayer for you, no matter what this year brings.
Holding Unswervingly
The writer of the Letter to the Hebrews reminds us to “hold unswervingly to the hope we possess, for He who promised is faithful” (10:23). I invite you to join me in holding onto the promises of God with unswerving, steady, expectant confidence that He has got this.
Unshakeable Love
As Paul so eloquently puts it, nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39). Not a virus, not a secular angry society, not an unexpected illness, not a job loss, not an unfaithful spouse, nor the heartbreak of a wayward child. Nothing. Amen.
