A Hunger that Cannot be Satisfied
My son Zack is a growing boy with an insatiable appetite. At 6 feet tall and wearing a size fourteen shoe, he’s always looking for his next meal. His hunger is a constant reminder of the importance of nourishment for growth and development. But as I watch him devour everything in sight, I’m struck by a deeper longing – a hunger to know God more intimately.
A Spiritual Appetite
Imagine having an enormous appetite for studying the Bible and praying. What if we were never satisfied, always yearning for more of God’s presence in our lives? This is the kind of hunger I petition the Lord to bless me with. I want to dig deeper into God’s Word, to apply its principles to my life, and to share its wisdom with others.
The Power of God’s Word
In Deuteronomy, Moses reminds the Israelites that God’s Word is not just a collection of idle words, but a source of life. The Scriptures are meant to be studied, applied, and passed on to others. This truth resonates deeply with me, and I hope to instill it in my children as well. A steady diet of God’s Word, combined with healthy habits, can foster growth and maturity in His grace.
Praying for Spiritual Hunger
Today, I pray that God will lavish a spiritual hunger on me, one that will drive me to seek Him more fervently. I ask that He mold me into an “eating machine” of His Word, always craving more of His presence and wisdom. May this hunger become contagious, inspiring others to pursue a deeper relationship with God.
Nourishing Body and Soul
As I strive to satisfy Zack’s physical hunger, I’m reminded of the importance of nourishing our souls as well. May we prioritize spiritual growth and development, seeking to satisfy our deepest longings with the Bread of Life. By doing so, we’ll discover a sense of fulfillment that goes beyond mere physical satisfaction, and experience the joy of living a life rooted in God’s Word.
