**Seeking the Divine**

Embracing the Unrelenting Pursuit of God’s Love

In the depths of our souls, there’s an insatiable longing to connect with something greater than ourselves. This innate yearning drives us to seek answers, to grasp for the unknown, and to hold fast to the unseen. The 18th-century poet and theologian Charles Wesley embodied this relentless pursuit in his poem, “Wrestling, I will not let Thee go, Till I Thy name, Thy nature know.” His words echo the cry of our hearts, refusing to settle for anything less than an intimate understanding of God’s love.

Dr. S.T. Kimbrough Jr.’s book, Lost in Wonder, beautifully captures Wesley’s determined quest to know the heights and depths of God’s love. This unyielding passion is a testament to the human spirit, which inherently seeks connection with the divine. As Kimbrough so eloquently puts it, “We grasp for the Unknown, and we hold fast to that which we cannot see.”

In this journey of seeking, we’re met with a profound promise: God is equally fervent in His pursuit of us. As Jeremiah 29:13 assures us, “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” This reciprocal longing is a beacon of hope, illuminating the path to a deeper understanding of God’s nature.

Jesus’ words in John 6:35 offer a poignant reminder of this promise: “Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.” In a world where emptiness and disillusionment often reign, it’s a comforting truth that God’s love can satiate our deepest longings.

As we embark on this journey of seeking, may we find the courage to surrender our hearts, acknowledging that only God can fill the void within us. May we reach out and accept the boundless love He offers, and may we never tire of seeking Him, for in doing so, we’ll find ourselves enveloped in His eternal embrace.
