The Beauty of a Blameless Life
In today’s society, we often measure a person’s worth by their outward appearance, social status, or material possessions. But what does God look for in those who desire to worship Him?
A Heart of Integrity
The Psalmist asks, “Who may worship in Your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter Your presence on Your holy hill?” (Psalm 15:1). The answer lies in the character of the individual. Those who lead blameless lives, doing what is right and speaking truth from sincere hearts, are the ones who may enter God’s presence. They refuse to gossip, harm their neighbors, or speak evil of their friends. Instead, they despise flagrant sinners and honor the faithful followers of the Lord.
A Life of Service
I have been blessed to know a dear lady at my Bible study who embodies these qualities. Despite her humble appearance, she has a deep desire to grow in her knowledge of God and serve Him whole-heartedly. She is always willing to lend a hand, never seeking attention for herself, and always giving glory to God. In the eyes of the world, she may be considered insignificant, but to God, she is precious and treasured.
The World’s Wisdom vs. God’s Wisdom
The Bible provides us with many lists of attributes that describe genuine Christ followers. While these lists may seem like a set of rules to some, they are actually a description of a life that brings glory to God and joy to those who serve Him. As the Apostle Paul reminds us, “the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom” (1 Corinthians 1:25a). What may not make sense to the world around us makes perfect sense to God.
Trusting in God’s Wisdom
Lord God, help me to trust Your Word, even when it is difficult and makes no sense to me. I believe that it makes sense to You, and You are trustworthy. Amen.
Reflection
Take a moment to reflect on the list of attributes in Psalm 15. Is there something from this list that you are struggling to accept? Pray that the Lord would convict you of your sin and change your heart so that you would desire His wisdom and not the wisdom of the world.
