The Timeless Nature of God
Have you ever stopped to consider the infinite, eternal, and everlasting nature of God? In Exodus 3:14-15, God reveals Himself to Moses, saying, “I am who I am. Say this to the people of Israel: I am has sent me to you.” This declaration is not about what God was or will be, but about who He is in the present moment. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and His eternal name is to be remembered for all generations.
Beyond Human Understanding
It’s challenging to wrap our minds around a God who has no beginning or end. Our finite human experience is marked by starts and stops, but God’s existence transcends time and space. As Isaiah 40:25-28 reminds us, “To whom will you compare me? Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One. “The LORD is the everlasting God, the creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary.”
Unlimited by Human Circumstances
Because God is everlasting, He is not constrained by our problems or choices. He uses even the most difficult circumstances to bring about good in our lives. His plans are not derailed by human actions, and our pain, failure, anger, or questions do not intimidate or overwhelm Him. He is greater than our circumstances and bigger than our problems.
Transformed by the Truth
So, will we allow the timeless nature of God to transform the way we live? Will we quest to understand Him more deeply and permit the truth of who He is to shape our daily lives? May we come to reverence and awe at the thought of Yahweh, the God who has always been and will always be.
Reflecting on God’s Character
Take a moment to reflect on the characteristics of God as revealed in His Word. What does He say about Himself? Write down His attributes and thank Him for who He is. As you do, may you be transformed by the truth of His eternal nature.
