The Power of Preparedness: Sharing Your Faith with Confidence
As followers of Christ, we’re called to be ready to share the reason for our hope with others (1 Peter 3:15). But for many of us, the thought of being asked about our faith can be daunting. Why is it that we often feel unprepared to respond to questions and challenges from the world around us?
A Crisis of Biblical Illiteracy
The statistics are alarming: biblical illiteracy is on the rise, leaving many believers feeling uncertain and unconfident in their faith. But it doesn’t have to be this way. We can learn from the examples of Peter and Paul, who boldly proclaimed the truth of Jesus Christ in the face of opposition. Their confidence came from a deep understanding of Scripture, gained through intentional study and divine revelation.
Answering Life’s Big Questions
As Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias notes, everyone – regardless of their beliefs – must grapple with fundamental questions about existence: “Where did I come from? What is life’s meaning? How do I define right from wrong and what happens to me when I die?” As believers, we have the privilege of knowing the answers to these questions, and sharing them with a world that desperately needs to hear.
Preparing Our Hearts and Minds
We don’t need a seminary degree to effectively share our faith. What we need is a willingness to prepare our hearts and minds through regular study of God’s Word. By doing so, we can confidently proclaim Jesus as the answer to the world’s deepest longings.
A Prayer for Preparedness
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for the privilege of knowing You. May Your Holy Spirit help me to prepare my heart and mind to be Your faithful witness. Empower and equip me with Your Word and grant me favor to effectively proclaim Jesus. Amen.
Empowered to Proclaim
As we commit to preparing ourselves for the opportunities that come our way, we can confidently share our faith with others. May we be inspired by the examples of Peter and Paul, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to boldly proclaim the truth of Jesus Christ.
