Unshakeable: Finding Eternal Identity in Christ

Unshakeable Identity

Have you ever experienced the frustration of having your credit card declined, only to discover that your identity has been stolen? This was exactly what happened to me and my wife while we were traveling abroad. After multiple attempts, the store clerk informed us that our card was no longer valid. Luckily, we had a backup plan. However, a quick call to the bank revealed that our card had been compromised, and someone had created a new card in our name, using it to fund their lavish lifestyle.

A Spiritual Awakening

As I reflected on this ordeal, I couldn’t help but think of the spiritual implications. When I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior, I received a new identity that is unshakeable and unbreakable. No one can take away my identity in Christ; it is mine forever. This realization brought me comfort and peace, especially in the face of identity theft.

The Power of Identity

In the secular world, our identity is often tied to a series of numbers: Social Security, credit card, driver’s license, or passport. Without these official forms of identification, we are often limited in what we can do. However, in the world of faith, our identity comes from God through Jesus Christ, and it is unassailable. The Bible emphasizes the importance of our identity in Christ, urging us to live out our faith in response to this new identity.

Created for Good Works

As the apostle Paul so eloquently puts it, “For we are what he has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life” (Ephesians 2:10). Our identity in Christ is not just a static concept; it is a dynamic force that compels us to live out our faith in tangible ways.

A Lasting Legacy

In a world where our identities can be stolen and compromised, it is reassuring to know that our identity in Christ is secure. No one can take away our true identity, which is rooted in God’s love and redemption. As we navigate the complexities of life, let us remember that our identity in Christ is unshakeable, unbreakable, and eternal.
