The Power of Community: A Lesson in Prioritizing God
As believers, we’re encouraged to “spur one another on toward love and good deeds” (Hebrews 10:24-25). Yet, it’s easy to fall into the trap of going solo in our faith journey. I know I did.
A Wake-Up Call
After eight months of absence from church, I thought I had it all figured out. I prayed, watched podcasts, and studied God’s Word on my own. But God had other plans. During a recent trip to Grenada, I stumbled upon a church and decided to attend. The experience was transformative. In that moment, I realized my soul was craving fellowship with other believers.
The Blessing of Fellowship
As I participated in the ladies’ morning Bible study, I was struck by the sense of community and love that filled the room. Tears of joy welled up as I shared my heart with complete strangers, who suddenly became my family in Christ. It was a powerful reminder that God knows our needs better than we do.
God’s Design for Community
So, why does God command us to meet regularly and learn from each other? The answer lies in our tendency to let other things and people take His place in our lives. Without intentional effort, God can become a secondary priority. But when we prioritize fellowship and community, we’re reminded of our dependence on Him and His provisions.
A Route Adjustment
My experience in Grenada was a gentle nudge from God, urging me to reevaluate my priorities. I’m grateful for the lesson and the reminder that God loves me deeply. He provides perfect gifts from above, including like-minded believers who help us grow in our faith.
Gratitude and Praise
Thank you, Jesus, for your love and provision. Thank you for creating us to be dependent on you. Thank you for giving us the means to study and learn about you, no matter where we are in the world. I love you, Jesus. Amen.
