Finding Strength in the Morning Light
As I pound the pavement each morning, my body protests with every step. The aches and pains are a constant reminder of my family’s history with heart disease. Yet, I press on, driven by a deeper desire to persevere.
The Power of Choice
In these moments of physical struggle, I’m faced with a decision: do I let my discomfort consume me, or do I push through and focus on the beauty unfolding before me? As I choose to keep running, the darkness gradually gives way to the golden light of dawn. It’s a powerful metaphor for the transformation that occurs within me.
Shifting My Gaze
The author of Hebrews encourages us to “run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith” (Hebrews 12:1-2). It’s a timely reminder to redirect my attention away from my own limitations and toward the One who strengthens me. As I do, my attitude begins to shift, much like the changing colors of the sky.
Anxiety’s Antidote
The apostle Paul offers similar wisdom in Philippians 4:6, urging us to “not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God.” In the stillness of the morning, I’m reminded to bring my concerns to God, rather than allowing them to overwhelm me.
A New Perspective
As I run, I’m granted a front-row seat to witness the breathtaking beauty of creation. And in that moment, my troubles seem to fade into the background. It’s a poignant reminder that when I focus on Jesus, my perspective changes, and I’m empowered to face whatever challenges lie ahead.
