Embracing the Sovereignty of God
Unraveling Misconceptions
Misconceptions about God’s character are rampant, but they don’t have to be. The Bible offers a wealth of information about God’s attributes, revealing the essence of His nature. As finite creatures, our understanding will always be limited, but by studying God’s self-revelation, we can gain a deeper insight into His character.
The Attributes of God
When discussing God’s attributes, we’re exploring the characteristics that define Him. The list is extensive, but one attribute stands out: His sovereignty. The Sovereignty of God is the biblical teaching that all things are under His rule and control, with nothing happening without His direction or permission.
God’s Unwavering Control
God works not just some things, but all things according to the counsel of His own will. His purposes are all-inclusive and never thwarted; nothing takes Him by surprise. This means God is not merely sovereign in principle, but sovereign in practice. He is in control of all things, in all places, and at all times, with no limitations.
A Heart of Gratitude
As I reflect on God’s sovereignty, I am filled with gratitude. As King of kings and Lord of lords, God has no limitations, and by His grace, I am what I am. He lives within my heart, guiding me and directing my path. My prayer is that I may keep my eyes fixed on Him, trusting in His sovereignty in all aspects of my life.
A Prayer of Praise
Father God, You are sovereign in all things. I praise You and thank You for living in my heart and making me who I am. Help me to keep my eyes fixed on You. Amen.
