Surrendering to the Divine Plan
As I embarked on a journey to Northern Ontario, Canada, to assist my sister and brother-in-law with their fishing resort, I was struck by a profound realization. Despite my good intentions, I knew I had much to learn about running a successful business. How could I make a meaningful contribution without becoming a hindrance? The answer lay in a simple yet powerful approach.
Seeking Guidance
Each day, I made it a point to ask my sister and brother-in-law, “What would you like me to do today?” Their response became my top priority, and I dedicated myself to fulfilling their wishes. This humble act of obedience allowed me to serve them effectively, and I left after two weeks with a deep sense of satisfaction.
A Spiritual Awakening
As I reflected on my experience, I began to ponder the implications of applying this same principle to my spiritual life. What if I started each day by asking, “God, what would you like me to do today?” Just as I trusted my sister and brother-in-law’s expertise, I could trust God’s infinite wisdom to guide me through life’s complexities.
Trusting in Divine Wisdom
Recognizing God’s superior knowledge, I acknowledged the prudence of seeking His will daily. This act of surrender is, in essence, a manifestation of the prayer, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” By submitting to God’s direction, I am, in fact, allowing Him to reign supreme in my life.
A Heartfelt Confession
Lord Jesus, I confess my tendency to operate independently, neglecting Your desires and plans. I yearn to trust You, acknowledging that Your will is the ultimate blueprint for my life. I humble myself before You, surrendering my autonomy to declare, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven” in every aspect of my life. What is it that You would like me to do today? Amen.
A Challenge to Trust
Do you trust God implicitly? For the next week, begin each day by asking, “God, what would you like me to do today?” Listen attentively to the gentle whispers of His Spirit. Is there anything holding you back from surrendering to God’s will, seeking His guidance, or posing this question?
