When Life Falls Apart, God’s Love Remains
I was drowning in a sea of troubles. My world was crumbling around me, and I felt like I couldn’t take another blow. My husband had been hospitalized for three long years, with no end in sight. To make matters worse, a devastating gasoline explosion had left my 13-year-old son fighting for his life in the hospital with severe burns. If that weren’t enough, my daughter had just left for Europe, leaving an empty space in our home. And to top it all off, my own health issues were threatening my nursing job.
A Friend’s Wisdom
Desperate for guidance, I turned to a trusted friend whose counsel I valued. I poured out my heart to him, sharing every detail of my struggles. He listened attentively, his kind face a picture of compassion. When I finally paused, he asked a simple yet profound question: “Helen, does God still love you?” I was taken aback, unsure of how to respond. “Yes,” I stammered, “I think so. The Bible says God’s love is everlasting, so it must remain the same regardless of my circumstances.”
A Rock-Solid Truth
My friend nodded in agreement. “You can stand on this fact: God loves you and will never leave you. Cling to this truth, and you will find the strength to cope.” He then offered a heartfelt prayer, thanking God for me and His great love for me. As we prayed together, I felt a sense of peace wash over me.
The Power of Scripture
Clinging to God’s love and affirming it out loud by reciting Bible verses gave me the courage and hope I needed to navigate those dark days. Verses like Psalm 100:5, “For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations,” and Lamentations 3:22-23, “Because of the LORD’S great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness,” became my lifeline.
A Message of Hope
What is happening in your life? Are you facing struggles that seem insurmountable? Remember, these verses are meant for you too. Read them often, out loud, and add, “Thank you, Father.” Thank you, Father, for your love which never changes. In the midst of turmoil, God’s love remains a constant, unwavering presence.
