When Faced with the Impossible
Have you ever felt trapped, with no clear way out? Your circumstances may have led you to yearn for the past, no matter how difficult it was. It’s as if you’re saying, “Anything but this!” But what if you’re standing at the edge of a seemingly insurmountable challenge, just like the Israelites at the Red Sea?
The Power of Standing Still
In such moments, God whispers, “Stand still… See…” (Exodus 14:13). It’s an invitation to surrender, to let go of our need to control and manipulate. Oswald Chambers once asked, “Dare I really let God be to me all that He says He will be?” When we dare to trust God fully, we can experience the impossible.
The Israelites’ Daring Faith
The Israelites, with no escape route in sight, chose to stand still and watch God work. They marched silently around the imposing walls of Jericho, trusting that God would fulfill His promise. And He did. The sea parted, the walls crumbled, and they crossed over into a new reality.
The Rest of Faith
Someone has defined “rest” as “to cease striving.” When we let our faith rest in God, we can witness His power at work. We’re not called to strive or struggle; we’re called to trust. The children of Israel rested in who their God is, and they watched silently as He worked wonders.
Your Impossible Circumstances
Perhaps you’re facing a Red Sea of your own – a circumstance, a need, a dream, or an ache that only God can conquer. Remember, He is able. Rest in His promise. Dare to let God be for you all that He has said He will be. Faith that rests will watch God work, every time.
