Serving the Overlooked: The Power of Unseen Acts of Faith

The Unseen Acts of Faith

A Call to Care for the Marginalized

We all strive to make a significant impact for God, to do something remarkable and noticeable. However, Jesus teaches us that true greatness lies in serving the overlooked and marginalized, rather than seeking the attention of the rich, powerful, and influential.

The Judgment of True Righteousness

In Matthew 25:40, Jesus reveals that when He returns to judge all people, the righteous will be surprised to discover that their acts of kindness towards the marginalized were, in fact, acts of service to Him. He says, “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.”

The Power of Simple Acts

I’ve had the privilege of caring for my father, who suffers from advanced dementia. Every week, I visit him and feed him lunch. Some days, he doesn’t speak, so I simply share stories about my day or hold his hand. On one occasion, I encountered a man shuffling down the hallway and guided him to the dining room. I also met a woman, barely five feet tall, wearing a foam helmet. Although we couldn’t understand each other, I offered her a smile and a kind word. These small, unremarkable actions may seem insignificant, but they are precisely the kind of care God calls us to extend to the “least of these.”

A Heart of Compassion

Heavenly Father, thank you for seeing and caring for those we often overlook. Remind me daily that whatever I do for the least of these, I do for you. May my heart be filled with compassion and my actions reflect your love.

Embracing the Unseen

As we go about our daily lives, let us not forget that it’s the unseen acts of faith, the quiet moments of kindness, and the humble service to others that truly matter. May we be inspired to care for the marginalized, knowing that in doing so, we are serving Jesus Himself.
