Unveiling the Gentle Heart of God: Embracing His Love and Humility

Embracing the Gentle Heart of God

As a beloved child of God, have you ever stopped to listen to your Father’s heart and His ways for you? In Galatians 5:22-23,25, we’re reminded that the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. This is the essence of living by the Spirit, keeping in step with Him.

Rest for the Weary

In Matthew 11:28-30, Jesus invites us to come to Him, promising rest for our souls. He asks us to take His yoke upon us, to learn from Him, and to find rest in His gentleness and humility. This is the same gentleness He showed to children, women, outcasts, and even His disciples during His time on earth.

The Infinite God’s Gentle Touch

Our Father deals gently with us, considering our weaknesses and ignorance (Hebrews 5:2). Despite His infinite power, He cares deeply about every detail of our lives, even collecting our tears in a bottle. His gentle personal attention is beyond comprehension, yet we can receive it with gratitude.

Gentleness: The Bridled Strength of God

Gentleness is not weakness; it’s the restrained strength of God’s infinite power under His direction. Jesus, who could have summoned legions of angels to rescue Him, chose instead to submit to arrest and crucifixion, demonstrating the power of His love for us.

The Ultimate Picture of Gentleness

In Philippians 2:5-8, we see the ultimate picture of Jesus’ gentleness. He, being God, humbled Himself, taking on the nature of a servant, and obediently went to the cross for us. Let us fall before this magnificent portrait of our Savior and rise to take our position in His humility and meekness.

Biblical Meekness

Gentleness is biblical meekness, a positive quality commended by Jesus, who said the meek will inherit the earth (Matthew 5:5). As we live in His strength, we can exhibit holy gentleness towards others, just as He does.

Clothing Ourselves with Gentleness

God instructs us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, bearing with others and forgiving their grievances against us (Colossians 3:12-13). As His holy and dearly loved ones, we’re called to wear gentleness in a way that reflects well on Him.

Blessed with Gentleness

May we be blessed with the gentle answer of Jesus that turns away wrath. May we be wise as serpents and gentle as doves. May we be blessed with the wisdom of gentleness that is pure, peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy, and good fruit (James 3:17). And may we respond to His gentle strength with the fruit of gentleness that the Spirit produces in us (Galatians 5:23).
