The Boundless Expanse of God’s Love
As we gaze up at the vastness of the sky, it’s humbling to consider our infinitesimal place within the grand tapestry of creation. A trip to the Eiffel Tower, with its breathtaking views of the City of Light, serves as a poignant reminder of our tiny stature in comparison to the enormity of the heavens.
A Love Beyond Measure
The Psalmist David beautifully captures the essence of God’s love in Psalm 103:11-12, likening it to the immense distance between the heavens and the earth. This boundless love is a recurring theme throughout Scripture, echoed in the words of Frederick M. Lehman’s timeless hymn: “Could we with ink the ocean fill, And were the skies of parchment made… To write the love of God above Would drain the ocean dry; Nor could the scroll contain the whole, Though stretched from sky to sky.”
A Love That Transcends Time
As David penned these words, he looked ahead to a future Savior, an embodiment of God’s love. We, on the other hand, have the privilege of rejoicing in the knowledge that Jesus Christ is that very Savior, who has paid the debt of our sins in full. As children of God, we can bask in the radiance of His merciful, unconditional love, freed from the weight of guilt and shame that once burdened us.
The Distance of Forgiveness
The Psalmist’s words take on a profound significance when we consider the vast expanse between east and west – a distance that symbolizes the infinite removal of our transgressions from us. What a comfort to know that our wrongdoings are as far from us as the east is from the west!
A Heartfelt Prayer
Dear God, Your love is truly amazing! Thank You for revealing Your love to me through the wonders of creation, the pages of Your Word, and the gift of Jesus. Thank You for lifting the crushing burden of sin off my shoulders. Help me to continue trusting You and obeying Your Word as an expression of my love for You. Amen.
