When Time Stands Still: The Art of Waiting on God

As children, we eagerly awaited birthdays and holidays, counting down the minutes until the big day arrived. But as adults, time seems to fly by, and those special occasions come and go before we know it. Yet, waiting on God is a different story altogether. It’s a journey that requires patience, trust, and faith.

The Struggle is Real

Waiting on God can be excruciatingly difficult. Whether we’re praying for physical healing, employment, or a loved one to come to faith, the wait can be agonizing. Some days, it feels like an impossible task, leaving us frustrated, tearful, and on our knees.

The Darkness of Despair

When the wait becomes too much, anxiety, fear, and despair can creep in, edging out peace and replacing it with darkness. It’s as if we’ve hit rock bottom, with no hope in sight. But even in the darkest of times, there is always a glimmer of light.

The Light That Never Fades

Jesus came to shine His light in this dark world, offering hope to all who put their trust in Him. His light never dims, never goes out. Even when we’re blinded to it, it remains, beckoning us back to Him. Where there is light, there is always hope.

Hope for a Better Tomorrow

On the days when waiting feels like too much, we can hold onto hope. Hope that a better tomorrow is just around the corner. Hope that God will soon reveal His plans for us. Hope because God is in the wait with us, strengthening, comforting, and bringing rest to the weary.

The Unpredictable Wait

Unlike the changing seasons, waiting on God is never methodical. We may not know what’s coming next, but God does. Our waiting and our future are in His safe, strong, and capable hands.

Finding Strength in the Wait

So how do we wait on God? By holding onto hope, trusting in His goodness, and remembering that He is always with us. In the wait, we can find strength, comfort, and peace, even in the darkest of times.
