Sovereignty in the Midst of Suffering
When tragedy strikes, it’s natural to question God’s plan. Why do bad things happen to good people? It’s a query that has puzzled humanity for centuries. Yet, as a believer, I hold fast to the conviction that God has a purpose for everything He does or allows.
The Principle of Sovereignty
The Bible declares that God is sovereign, reigning supreme over the universe, nations, and individual lives (Psalm 22:28). This fundamental truth is the foundation of my faith. It’s a reassuring reminder that nothing occurs by chance or coincidence; every event, no matter how painful, serves a higher purpose.
Seeking Answers in the Dark
In the midst of trials, we often cry out, “God, why?” Sometimes, we receive answers; other times, we’re left with only silence. But one thing is certain: God is always working to bring good out of evil, as promised in Romans 8:28. Though we may struggle to comprehend His grand design, we can trust that He is weaving a tapestry of redemption.
Limited Perspective, Unlimited Faith
From my human vantage point, I may not grasp the full extent of God’s plan. However, I’ve witnessed firsthand how He transforms sorrow into joy, turning darkness into light. My experiences have convinced me that God’s promise is true: He will work all things together for good.
A Higher Perspective
Isaiah reminds us that God’s ways and thoughts are far beyond our own (Isaiah 55:9). He sees the completed picture, while we’re limited to a single frame. This understanding frees us to surrender control, trusting that God is always in charge, even when our world seems to be spinning out of control.
Embracing God’s Sovereignty
As believers, we must come to terms with the fact that God won’t always make sense to us. But we can rely on His character, His promises, and His sovereignty. In the face of uncertainty, we can choose to release our grip on control, entrusting our lives to the One who holds the universe together.
