The Power of Community: Holding Each Other Up
In times of struggle, it’s easy to feel like we’re alone, like no one understands what we’re going through. But the truth is, we were never meant to face our challenges by ourselves. We were created for relationship, for community, and for dependence on one another.
A Lesson from Moses
In Exodus 17:12, we see Moses, leader of the Israelites, facing a daunting task. As he held up his hands, Israel prevailed against their enemies, but when his hands grew tired and he let them down, their enemies gained the upper hand. It was only when his friends, Aaron and Hur, came alongside him and held up his hands that Israel emerged victorious.
The Importance of Support
This story highlights the importance of having people in our lives who can support and encourage us, especially during difficult times. Just as Moses needed his friends to hold up his hands, we need others to help us stay strong and focused. Whether we’re facing a personal struggle, a health crisis, or a spiritual battle, having a community of believers around us can make all the difference.
Breaking Down Barriers
But often, we’re hesitant to reach out for help. We may feel like we’re a burden to others or that we should be able to handle things on our own. However, this mindset is exactly what the enemy wants us to believe. He wants us to feel isolated and alone, without hope or support. But we must remember that we were never meant to “go it alone.”
Reaching Out for Help
So, how can we break down these barriers and find the support we need? First, we must be willing to ask for help. This can be as simple as talking to a friend or family member about what we’re going through or seeking out a support group. We must also be willing to be there for others, to listen and offer encouragement when they need it.
A Prayer for Community
Father God, thank you for reminding us that we’re not alone. Help us to be the kind of friends who can offer support and encouragement to those around us. Give us the courage to reach out for help when we need it, and remind us that you are always our ultimate source of strength. Amen.
Building a Community of Believers
As we strive to build a community of believers who can support and encourage one another, let’s remember the power of relationships. Let’s reach out to those around us, offer a listening ear, and be willing to hold up each other’s hands when needed. Together, we can face any challenge that comes our way, knowing that we’re not alone.
