Leaving a Lasting Impact: Footprints of Faithfulness

Leaving a Lasting Legacy

As I reflect on the words of Matthew 25:23, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” I am reminded of a heartwarming encounter with my six-year-old granddaughter, Tia. She had a Sunday school project that would become a poignant reminder of the importance of faithfulness.

A Child’s Perspective

Tia came to me with a piece of paper and pencil in hand, eager to complete her project. She asked to draw my foot, and as I obliged, she carefully outlined my bare foot on the paper. But it was her next question that struck a chord: “What do you want Jesus to say to you when you meet Him face to face?” Without hesitation, I replied, “I want Jesus to say, ‘Good job, Katherine!’”

A Wall of Faithfulness

The following Sunday, I was amazed to see a whole wall in the church gymnasium covered with grandparents’ footprints, each one a testament to a life of faithfulness. It was a powerful reminder that our actions, big or small, have a lasting impact on those around us.

Faithful Servants

During a trip to Southern California, my husband and I had the privilege of meeting long-time friends and co-workers who had dedicated their lives to serving the Lord. We celebrated with Warren and Diane Willis, who had been in ministry for over 30 years. Their faithfulness to God, their call, and each other was a shining example of what it means to live a life pleasing to God.

A Legacy of Faith

As I think about the Willis’ and their remarkable legacy, I am reminded that our faithfulness has a ripple effect, touching the lives of countless individuals. While we may not see the full extent of our impact in this lifetime, we can be certain that our faithfulness will be rewarded in eternity. And when we finally meet our Lord face to face, may we hear those precious words, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”

A Challenge to Us All

As we journey through life, leaving our footprints on this earth, let us ask ourselves: “Where are we leading those who are following?” May we remain faithful to God until the end, and may our legacy be one of devotion, commitment, and service to our Lord. Amen.
