Beyond the Visible: Finding Hope in the Unseen

Glimpses of the Unseen

As we navigate the complexities of life, it’s easy to get caught up in the here and now. But what about the things we can’t see? The promises yet to be fulfilled? The hope that burns within us?

A Reflection of What’s to Come

I recall our annual winter escapes to the Austrian Alps, where the snow-capped mountains and quaint villages offered a tranquil respite from our busy lives in central Germany. The seven-hour journey was a time of transition, as my mind gradually shifted from the worries of daily life to the excitement of what lay ahead. As we crossed into Austria, my anticipation grew, and I could almost smell the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and hear the crunch of snow beneath my boots.

The Tension Between Now and Not Yet

As C.S. Lewis so eloquently put it, we live between the now and the not yet. We have a “sure and certain hope” (Hebrews 11:1), yet we face the harsh realities of a broken world. We’re reminded that faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen, even when we can’t see it (Hebrews 11:1). It’s a delicate balance between trusting in God’s promises and confronting the difficulties of everyday life.

A Glimpse of Eternal Presence

As I gazed upon the snow-laden trees and picturesque towns nestled in the valleys of southern Germany, I caught a glimpse of the things to come. It was as if I saw a reflection of what’s yet to be, a hint of the eternal presence that awaits us. We travel through life with the confident assurance that God is with us, both now and forever.

Hope in the Unseen

In the midst of life’s challenges, we’re reminded that our hope is not in what we can see, but in what we can’t. It’s the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen, even when our circumstances seem bleak. As we journey through the ups and downs of life, may we hold fast to the promise that God will never leave nor forsake us, and that one day, we’ll see face to face what we now see only in part (1 Corinthians 13:12).
