What Do You Want from God?

A Heartfelt Inquiry

As we gather in churches across the world, a question echoes through the ages: “What do you want me to do for you?” (Matthew 20:32). This inquiry, posed by Jesus Himself, holds a mirror to our souls, revealing the depths of our desires and the sincerity of our faith.

Two Paths, One Choice

If you’re reading these words, you likely fall into one of two categories. You may be a new or seasoned Christ follower, eager to deepen your relationship with God. Or, you may be someone who’s curious about the Christian faith, perhaps even questioning its validity. Whichever path you’re on, Jesus’ question invites you to pause and reflect on your true desires.

A Lukewarm Faith

But what about those who occupy the pews, going through the motions without a spark of passion? They sing, recite creeds, and exchange greetings, yet their hearts seem distant, unengaged. If Jesus were to walk among them, asking “What do you want me to do for you?”, would they respond with sincerity or indifference?

A Personal Reflection

Before we judge others, let’s turn the question inward. What do I want from God? Am I satisfied with my current relationship, or is there a burning desire for more? Do I long to surrender my all, to follow Him without condition? Does my heart ache for a world in need?

The Gentle Prompt

Jesus’ question is not a nagging reminder or an intrusion; it’s a gentle prompt, an invitation to re-examine our priorities. It’s a chance to quiet our hearts and listen for His whisper. Will you respond with honesty, with vulnerability, and with a willingness to follow Him wherever He leads?
