The Ultimate Refuge: Entrusting Our Spirits to God
In times of uncertainty and turmoil, where do we turn for comfort and peace? For believers, the answer lies in committing our spirits to the loving hands of God. As Psalm 31:5 reminds us, “Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.”
Prioritizing Our Most Precious Treasure
In life and death, our primary concern should not be our physical bodies or material possessions, but our eternal souls. This precious treasure is what matters most, and if it is safe, all else fades into insignificance. Our current struggles and afflictions pale in comparison to the value of our souls.
A Believer’s Confidence
As children of God, we can confidently entrust our souls to His care. We came from Him, and He has sustained us throughout our lives. He is able to keep us, and it is only fitting that we return to Him. In His hands, all things are secure, both now and for eternity.
Peaceful Living and Glorious Dying
When we commit our lives to Jesus, we can experience peaceful living and glorious dying. Resting in the care of heaven brings comfort and tranquility, even in the midst of adversity. By entrusting all we have to Jesus’ faithful hand, we can dwell at ease, delighting in quiet resting places.
The Solid Ground of Redemption
God’s redemption is the foundation of our confidence. David, who wrote Psalm 31, didn’t have the benefit of knowing about Jesus’ death and resurrection, yet his imperfect knowledge brought him joy. How much more should our understanding of eternal redemption console us? Past deliverances assure us of present assistance, and we can trust that God will continue to be faithful to His promises and gracious to His saints.
A Question to Ponder
Have you committed your life to God? In times of uncertainty, where do you turn for comfort and peace? Remember, God’s love is unutterable, and His promises are secure. Will you entrust your spirit to His loving hands today?
