The Unwavering Promise of Spiritual Growth
As we embark on our faith journey, it’s essential to remember that our spiritual growth is not solely dependent on our efforts. The Bible reminds us that “the God who began the good work within you will keep right on helping you grow in His grace until His task within you is finally finished on that day when Jesus Christ returns” (Philippians 1:6).
The Role of Human Effort
While we are called to play a part in helping new believers mature in their faith, we must not assume the responsibility of the Holy Spirit. We can teach, guide, and support, but ultimately, it is the Holy Spirit who brings people to Christ and illuminates their hearts with the Word. Our role is to facilitate growth, not to control it.
The Power of Humility
Recognizing our limitations and the sovereignty of God can bring a sense of confidence and humility. We can boast in God, His Son Jesus Christ, and the indwelling Holy Spirit, rather than our own abilities and achievements. The apostle Paul knew that the work God began in believers would be permanent, despite life’s challenges and blessings.
Conforming to Christ’s Image
All events in our lives, whether joyful or sorrowful, are designed to conform us to the image of Christ. As we trust and obey God, we can draw upon His supernatural resources to overcome any obstacle.
Today’s Reflection
Take a moment to reflect on your spiritual journey. Remember that God, who saved you, continues to work in your life, conforming you to the image of Christ. Will you continue to trust and obey Him, drawing upon His supernatural resources?
