The Power of Witnessing: Sowing Seeds of Faith
When we share our faith with others, we often wonder if our words are falling on deaf ears. But Isaiah 55:11 reminds us that God’s word always produces fruit, accomplishing His purposes and prospering wherever it’s sent.
A Chance Encounter
I’ll never forget a surprising conversation I had at a wedding reception. A man around my age approached me, asking if I remembered him. Despite playing a game of guessing, I couldn’t place him – until he revealed that he was my former neighbor from childhood. Two memories came flooding back: his foster mother was my piano teacher, and their family had a ferocious dog that terrified me during lessons.
Seeds Sown Years Earlier
What struck me was that he recalled a conversation we’d had at a bus stop years earlier, when I’d shared the Gospel with him and his friend. Though they didn’t accept Christ that day, they both eventually became Christians. I was amazed that he still remembered the words I’d spoken, which had been inspired by God.
The Impact of Our Words
This encounter reminded me of a pivotal summer afternoon when my Sunday school teacher led our class in asking Jesus into our lives. His words have stayed with me to this day. People may not always respond immediately, but they won’t forget when you share your faith with them.
Leaving the Results to God
As one wise person told me, “Success in witnessing is simply sharing Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit and leaving the results to God.” We’re merely messengers, bringing good news to a world in need. So let’s continue to sow seeds of faith, trusting that God will bring forth fruit in His perfect timing.
