Finding Confidence in God’s Power
When faced with life’s challenges, do we truly believe that God will come to our aid? The writer of Hebrews echoes the psalmist’s declaration: “The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me” (Psalm 118:7, KJV). This bold statement reminds us that with God on our side, no human can harm us without His permission (Acts 4:28).
The Enemy’s Tactics
One of the enemy’s most effective strategies is to plant seeds of doubt in our minds. We might say, “I know God is all-powerful, but I’m not sure if He’s interested in helping me in this particular situation.” Or, “I believe God can do anything, but maybe it’s not His will to intervene right now.” These “exception clauses” can erode our confidence in God’s ability to help us.
God’s Sovereignty
In reality, God’s power is limitless, and He wants us to have unwavering faith in His ability to meet every need we have, no matter how big or small. When we grasp this truth, we begin to see our problems in perspective, and the obstacles that once seemed insurmountable begin to shrink.
A Life of Supernatural Faith
So, how can we cultivate this kind of confidence in God’s power? By acknowledging His sovereignty and depending on Him more fully. As Dr. Bill Bright so eloquently prayed, “Dear Lord, thank You that You are indeed my Helper. I will depend upon You as never before in living the supernatural life which will bring the greatest possible glory to You.”
Scripture to Meditate On
Take a moment to reflect on Psalm 118:5-9:
“I called on the Lord in distress;
The Lord answered me and set me in a broad place.
The Lord is on my side; I will not fear.
What can man do to me?
The Lord is for me among those who help me;
Therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me.
It is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in man.
It is better to trust in the Lord
Than to put confidence in princes.”
May these words inspire you to place your trust in God, the ultimate Helper and Protector.
