Unlocking the Mind of Christ
As believers, we often find ourselves stuck in a cycle of self-doubt, questioning our salvation and forgiveness. But the Holy Spirit’s purpose goes far beyond mere emotional experiences. He seeks to transform our very thinking, aligning our attitudes and perceptions with those of Jesus Christ.
The Mind of Christ: A Stunning Revelation
Paul’s words in 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 hold a profound truth: “But we have the mind of Christ.” This revelation is nothing short of astonishing. God desires us to possess Christ’s very discernment, to think with the same clarity and wisdom as the Son of God.
Formed in His Image
In Galatians 4:19, Paul writes, “My children, with whom I am again in labor until Christ is formed in you.” This process of formation is not just about salvation; it’s about Christ being functionally formed and living through us on earth. We are called to embody the very substance of who Jesus is, not just to have a religion about what He did.
Beyond Heaven
Our ultimate goal is not just to secure a spot in Heaven but to allow Christ to live through us, giving Him flesh and blood contact with this world. Through our knowledge of Christ’s word and our yieldedness to the Holy Spirit, Jesus gains access to the needs of humanity.
Overcoming Adversity
In the face of conflicts and persecution, we must remember that these difficulties are opportunities for God to showcase His Son through us. As Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 4:11, “For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.”
The Life of Jesus in Us
Isn’t this what we truly desire – to have the life of Jesus manifested in our mortal flesh? To be free from the cycle of judgment and pride, and instead, to think with the redemptive, creative thought-life of God?
A Heart of Redemption
To have the mind of Christ is not about performing miracles or walking on water; it’s about having a heart filled with the motives of Jesus. It’s about thinking like the Savior, whose heart is to redeem, rather than condemn. Lord, deliver us from our fleshly motives and grant us the motives of Jesus. Teach us to think with a heart of redemption.
