Cultivating God’s Patience: A Fruit of the Spirit

Unlocking the Power of God’s Patience

Have you ever wondered how deeply God’s patience has taken root in your life? You’ve likely heard sermons about it, read Bible passages that highlight its importance, and maybe even underlined them in your Bible. But have you truly received it?

The Proof of Patience

The proof of patience lies not in our knowledge of it, but in our ability to freely offer it to others. God doesn’t just demand patience from us; He offers it to us as a gift. Patience is a fruit of His Spirit, listed alongside love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in Galatians 5:22.

Receiving the Fruit of Patience

Have you ever asked God to give you this fruit? If so, did you grow impatient when you didn’t see immediate results? Don’t worry – God won’t grow tired of your requests. Keep asking, and you will receive patience in your praying.

A Gift That Keeps on Giving

When we receive God’s patience, we’re able to offer it freely to others. This is not a one-time transaction, but a continuous cycle of receiving and giving. As we pray for patience, we open ourselves up to receive more of God’s Spirit, which in turn allows us to offer more patience to those around us.

Persevering in Prayer

So, don’t be discouraged if you don’t see immediate results. Keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking. God is patient with our pleading, and He will grant us patience in His time. As Max Lucado so eloquently puts it, “He won’t grow impatient with your pleading, and you will receive patience in your praying.”
