Reflecting God’s Love: A Beacon of Hope in a Broken World

Shining Your Light for the King

As Christians, we are called to represent the King of Kings in our daily lives. In Matthew 5:16, Jesus reminds us to “let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.” But what does it mean to shine our light, and how can we do it in a way that honors God?

A Higher Standard

In old England, the family and servants of the king were expected to follow a higher standard of behavior, known as being “courteous.” This meant acting in a way that reflected the values and character of the royal court. As followers of Christ, we are part of a royal family, and we are called to live by a higher standard as well. We are ambassadors of the King, and our actions should reflect His love, kindness, and compassion.

Letting Your Light Shine

So, how can we let our light shine in a way that honors God? It starts with our daily interactions with others. When we show kindness, patience, and understanding to those around us, we are reflecting the character of Christ. When we serve others, volunteer our time, and give to those in need, we are shining our light for the King.

A Story of Shining Your Light

I am reminded of a story about a group of Christians who were traveling on a road, and they came across a person in need. They stopped to help, and in doing so, they showed the love of Christ to that person. This is what it means to shine our light – to show the love and kindness of God to a world in need.

Taking Jesus with You

As we go about our daily lives, we have the opportunity to take Jesus with us, to share His love and light with others. Whether it’s through a kind word, a listening ear, or a helping hand, we can shine our light for the King. So, let’s make a conscious effort to let our light shine, to show the world the love and character of Christ.

Grace Upon Grace

As we strive to shine our light, we are reminded that it’s not about us, but about God’s grace working through us. As Roy Lessin says, “Grace is the overflow of God’s love, and it’s the gift that keeps on giving.” May we be vessels of God’s grace, shining our light for the King, and bringing hope and joy to a world in need.
