The Unpredictable Nature of Jesus
Jesus never fails to surprise us. In a remarkable display of unconventional methods, He once spat on the ground, created a muddy paste, and applied it to a blind man’s eyes. His instructions were simple: “Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam” (John 9:6-7, NIV). This unorthodox approach to healing raises an important question: What do we really know about Jesus and His ways?
Defying Expectations
The truth is, Jesus operates on a different wavelength than we do. He doesn’t conform to our expectations; instead, we must adapt to His. This can be unsettling, as our minds crave predictability and consistency. Yet, Jesus’ consistency lies not in His methods, but in His unwavering commitment to the Father’s will.
The Inconsistencies of Jesus
One moment, Jesus may heal with a mere word; the next, He may use an unconventional approach, like the mud and saliva mixture. This apparent inconsistency can be jarring, but it’s essential to recognize that Jesus’ ways are not our ways. His focus is on the heart, not on meeting our expectations.
The Freedom of Embracing the Unknown
When we release our need for control and predictability, we open ourselves up to the freedom of following Jesus. We must be willing to surrender our expectations and trust in His sovereignty. Only then can we truly experience the transformative power of His love and grace.
By embracing the unpredictable nature of Jesus, we can break free from the shackles of our own expectations and discover a deeper, more authentic relationship with Him.
