Unleashing the Majesty of God: Conquering Fear with Infinite Power

The Power of God: The Foundation of Our Faith

At the heart of our struggles with fear, anxiety, and discouragement lies a fundamental issue: a weak or misguided understanding of God. The Bible’s central theme revolves around the existence, character, and plan of God. Every other aspect of Scripture flows from this foundation. A flawed theology of God inevitably leads to weaknesses in other areas of theology and, consequently, spiritual struggles in daily life.

The Consequences of a Small God

In my experience, many people struggle to trust God because they have a limited understanding of His power and authority. They envision a God who is too small, lacking the awe-inspiring, glorious, and incalculable power that the true God of the Bible possesses. The God of Scripture created the world out of nothing, holds His creation together by His power, commands the forces of nature, and reigns supreme over everything and everyone.

The Sovereign God of the Bible

In the book of Jeremiah, God’s judgment on the surrounding nations showcases His awesome power and authority. He is the ultimate King, with the power to do as He pleases, whenever He pleases. These announcements in Scripture serve as a testament to God’s sovereignty, reminding us that He rules over the entire universe. All things that scare or anxiety-ridden exist under His almighty rule.

The Implications of God’s Power

Because God possesses infinite power and authority, nothing we need is beyond His ability to deliver. May our understanding of God’s glory overwhelm anything that might paralyze us with fear. May we not settle for a God who is too small, but instead, may we be awestruck by the infinite majesty of His power and authority.
