Remembering God’s Goodness
As we navigate life’s ups and downs, it’s essential to reflect on the blessings God has bestowed upon us. The psalmist in Psalm 103 highlights five significant benefits that remind us of God’s goodness.
The Gift of Forgiveness
First and foremost, God forgives all our sins. This is the foundation of our relationship with Him. Without forgiveness, we cannot experience the fullness of God’s love. As Christians, we have been forgiven through Christ, who took our sin upon Himself, suffered in our place, and restored us to God.
Healing and Restoration
Secondly, God heals all our diseases, restoring us physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. While we may not always see immediate healing in this life, God’s ultimate plan is to give us full health in glorified bodies that can no longer get sick or die. Sometimes, God answers our prayers for healing by bringing our loved ones Home, where they experience complete restoration.
Redemption from the Pit
Thirdly, God redeems our lives from the pit, setting us free from slavery to sin and death. As Christians, we have been redeemed with Christ, and death is not the end; we’ve been brought from the pit.
Crowned with Steadfast Love and Mercy
Fourthly, God crowns us with steadfast love and mercy, going above and beyond to bless us. The Apostle Paul beautifully described God’s kindness, saying that He has made us alive together with Christ, raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in heavenly places.
Satisfied with Good
Lastly, God satisfies us with good, fulfilling our deepest hunger and longings. He is not stingy with His people, but rather, He gives us Himself, the greatest, most compelling, fascinating, fulfilling, absorbing, delightful being in the universe.
Praising God for His Goodness
As we reflect on these blessings, let us talk to ourselves, reminding ourselves of what God has done. Let us call ourselves to praise, acknowledging God’s goodness and love. By doing so, we imitate Christ, who looked to God and His will for every blessing and full satisfaction.
